For years, Sigma Phi Epsilon has been known as a
trailblazer in the college fraternity movement.
One of the most unique programs put in place by
SigEp is called the Balanced Man Program. Almost
twenty years ago in 1989, our Grand Chapter
endorsed this concept of membership development.
The Fall 2008 SigEp journal calls this "...the
most sweeping advance in any fraternity to
positively change the role of the fraternity in
its member's college experience."
At Sigma Phi Epsilon at WSU, we endorse this
program. The reason this program was so
revolutionary, and the reason it is so
successful is due to the fact that it eliminates
pledging. From the day you sign with SigEp, you
are a full member, with the same rights and
responsibilities as the senior members. However,
this is just one of the unique features in the Balanced Man program.
The Balanced Man Program offers opportunities for the individual to
better himself, preparing him for life after
college. The cornerstones of this program are
mentoring, community involvement, experiential
learning, brotherhood, and having a sound mind,
and a sound body. An example of an event we have
participated in that went toward having a sound
mind was taking dates to The Nutcracker in
Spokane.
Here at WSU, we incorporate these principals along with outstanding
men to build one of the strongest chapters on
campus. If you are interested in becoming a
SigEp, meeting some of our members, or coming to
a brotherhood or event, contact our Vice
President of Recruitment, Jake Bredstrand. |
